Monson vs Ruiz

IT IS OVER!

The World Championships were amazing...
Ricky won 5 matches
To claim his second World Title!
As you know he has a damaged elbow. Not broken but probably torn ligaments and muscle. After the break he had a Brazilian National Champ who was giving Ricky all he could handle until Ricky Broke his foot off! That advanced him to the finals where he had the toughest French man I have ever seen. This guy won the European ADCC championships and was every bit as good as Ricky. they battled back and forth for 41/2 minutes until Ricky managed to take his back and battle for second hook and then he rear naked choked him! It was a tough match, two very evenly matched up guys! We had Jeff Monson beat Brandon Ruiz in an amazing heavyweight battle! One of the best I have seen those two guys give in a while! They both used very technical Jiu Jitsu and Monson played an amazing bottom guard for a big man. Matt Sanchez tapped his opponent from Great Britain by Darce Choke. Matt No-Gi JJ has become deadly. This guy tapped everybody! Well Done Matt! The upset of the night was Jacob Volkman beating 3 time world champion from Brasil! Another upset was when Felicia Oh of US lost to French gal in finals! USA Won the whole thing, France took second with an amazing group of grapplers! Canada took third. Europe just served notice to the world that they are getting tough! The Italians were tough as well Great Brittan. Spain was also very tough! Grappling is changing before our eyes!

Today they are going to run a Gi tournament. We will not be competing today because of injury to Rickys arm. I am going to post a bunch of additional pictures of event and last two video's of match's hope you enjoy them!

Goodbye for this year!

Championship Results

BAD NEWS!  RICKY LOST! YES IT IS TRUE...  He lost his socks!   It is 2:30 a.m. we just returned from the amazing world championships.  Ricky has 5 matches to claim his second world title.  No broken bones, but probably torn ligaments and muscle.  Way too tired, going to bed,  more information later!

First Match

Second Match

Third Match

First Rounds

The tournament is amazing! A lot of countries I believe 40+ countries have brought a team. The sportsmanship and competition is really good for the most part! Here are a couple of pics with the Spanish team and the French team. Ricky has had a good tournament so far with the exception of a possible Broken arm he might have received against the American he had in finals of trials. His first match was against Canada which he submitted the guy with a Darce choke. The second match was against the American 6-2 and sustained a probable broken arm we will find out after tournament we have a trip to hospital lined up. After receiving the injury he had the Serbian who he hit a Flying Guillotine on in first period. It was awesome! I have lined up a few of the videos thus far. I will be back with more after the break! We regain competition for semi's and finals at 6:30!

Ricky After Weigh-Ins

Ricky competes tomorrow at 9:00 am. We are 8 hrs ahead of you! By the time you wake up the tournament will be over! The results and video's of matches should be available. Here is Ricky after weigh-ins! Hope to bring you Ricky's matches, Jeff Monsons, Brandon Ruiz and more!
Our friend Brandon Ruiz is known for making the national team in Greco
Roman wrestling, participating in the Olympic Trials, Grappling World
Championships and now His understanding of America!
Please watch and enjoy! On the second video you can hear what he
has to say about Jeff Monson!!!!

British and Japanese Team

Here I am messing around with part of the British
and Japanese grappling team.  Very nice guys!

Venue

We are at the venue where the Championships are being held
sorry I can't pronounce it or spell it. Weigh-ins are about to begin.
As usual it is a grappling tournament that is well behind schedule.
We have been standing around for about 5 hrs.
I have included a video of venue being set up. Check it out!

City of Lucern

Check out how beautiful Lucern is! As you can see very old buildings
and the worlds oldest bridge! Supposedly since the middle ages!
I think these sea gulls are also so from the middle ages, they are
very grumpy! The lake separates old Lucern from new Lucern.
